Twinkle Khanna was mad at Akshay Kumar for doing a comedy show. Here’s how he convinced her
Akshay Kumar has revealed that Twinkle Khanna isn’t too happy with him foraying into comedy (her domain) with his new TV show.
Akshay Kumar is coming back to television as the judge of a comedy show and Twinkle Khanna doesn’t seem too sure about it. The actor was asked if his author wife minds that he is foraying into her area (she has written two books and also writes a weekly satire column for a daily) and his reply was the most Akshay Kumar thing ever.
In an interview to Mid Day, Akshay said, “When I told her I was judging stand-up comedians, she warily told me, ‘Now you are taking up this also’ ...I told her chaar paise ghar mein aayenge (I will earn a few bucks).”
The comedy show, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, will mark Akshay’s return to television after 2014’s Dare to Dance. He was also seen in Seven Deadly Arts, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi and MasterChef India.
About the show, Akshay said, “When I came in the industry [in the early ‘90s], I did only action films for eight years. But, after that, I decided that I did not want to have a fixed image. I kept taking on newer projects that were distinct from each other. I have followed a similar pattern on television.”
“I have great respect for comedy. I love the genre and have been part of several laugh riots, but I do not believe in cracking jokes to hurt anyone. If you do, then you should have the b***s to poke fun at yourself,” he added.
Akshay and Twinkle also wished their son Aarav on his 15 birthday on Friday by posting his photos and videos on their social media pages. Check them out:
