Twitter greets Sacred Games 2 announcement with Ganesh Gaitonde, Akshay Kumar memes

Netflix teased a big announcement regarding Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Saif Ali Khan’s Sacred Games and Twitter can’t keep calm.

Sacred Games 2 is here, or at least its trailer and release date. That is the verdict of Twitter as Netflix teased a big announcement in 14 days. “Calendar nikaal. Tareekh likh le. 14 din mein kuch bada hone wala hai (Bring out the calender, write down this date. Something big is going to happen in 14 days),” read a tweet on Netflix India’s Twitter handle in a style that belongs to Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Sacred Games character Ganesh Gaitonde.

Sacred Games 2 fans have a lot to say about Netflix’s new announcement.

Earlier, the actor had told Hindustan Times in an interview, “It should arrive between June and August. You will forget the first season after watching the second season.”

Twitter immediately replied in kind. “Bhagwaan aa raha hai!!! Bacha lo apne seher ko... #Gaitonde (God is on his way. Save your city),” tweeted one, while another wrote, “Finally”. People were quick to put down their demands from the new season of Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin, Pakanj Tripathi’s show. “Ab kya Trivedi ka pata chalega? (Will we be told about Trivedi now)” asked one about the character who is part of the show’s big mystery, while another demanded that Constable Katekar – who died in the first part – should return in the second season.

Others were sure that Netflix was just toying with them. Using a meme from Kesari where Akshay Kumar tells his adversary, “Chal Jootha (You liar)”, a fan made his disbelief clear.

Gaitonde is killed in the first episode of the series, and the first season tells his story in flashback as Saif’s Sartaj Singh tries to save Mumbai from annihilation. Season two will further explore his tale, and his relationship with Pankaj Tripathi’s character, Guruji. Tripathi will be seen in a more prominent role in the upcoming season along with Elnaaz Norouzi, who was last seen visiting Gaitonde in jail. Several new characters will be introduced in season two.

Sacred Season 2 is being co-directed by Gangs of Wasseypur director Anurag Kashyap and Masaan’s Neeraj Ghaywan. Netflix had earlier revealed that two out of three viewers of the show came from outside India.
