Manoje Biddvai seems to be going through a bad patch. First, his offbeat flick Riwaaz has been delayed following the recession. Then, his major TV break, Mahabharata, for Star Plus, in which he plays Karan, may well be stuck. “I’ve not heard from them since December. I’m told that the project is on and we may start shooting early next month,” he says, fingers crossed. Is he wary of being compared to Pankaj Dheer who played the warrior to perfection in B R Chopra’s epic? “Well Pankaj brought his own attributes to the character.. I’ll give it my touch. It was a different time back then,” says Biddvai. The actor is however cautious of comparisons with Ekta Kapoor’s Kahaani Hamaarey Mahabharat ki. Unlike the 9X daily Star plans to air the mythological soap during the weekends.

Biddvai adds that their version of the war epic will begin with the characters as adults. The actor is currently a part of Woh Rehenwaali Mehelon ki on Sahara One: “My track will soon come into focus. A love triangle is on the cards,” he promises.

Biddvai has also acted in a Hinglish film, The Other Side, in which he plays a homosexual. The Other Side, he admits, is primarily a festival film. It has been screened at the New York and Seattle Film Festivals.
