Zor Ka Jhatka: a total washout!

On day one, when Zor Ka Jhatka was to be aired, the channel had organised free rides for commuters on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, so they could reach home and catch the show. Alas, it failed to win viewers’ hearts. The show, quite similar to Takeshi’s Castle on Pogo, is being aired in prime time, a slot solely dedicated to soaps and tearjerkers on Indian TV.

The running commentary from Shah Rukh Khan is funny at times but that’s just because of his inimitable style. However, his trademark humour, attitude and style seems to be missing. One fails to understand why he keeps repeating the word ‘GPL’ and more importantly, why are the stunt videos repeated till the audience gets bored?

Also, it’s almost impossible to co-relate the videos, which are aired alongside his commentary from a city studio. This show didn’t need someone of SRK’s stature as its host. Javed Jaffery managed to get an encouraging response as the host of Takeshi’s Castle with just his voiceover! The makers of the show could have done without the out-of-work celebrities and models to participate in the show. For a game show like this, commoners are best suited. The verdict is clear: Zor Ka Jhatka is a wipeout! Pun intended!

What we like
SRK is always a pleasure to watch

We don’t like
Repeated videos, insipid contestants and drab lines written for SRK
