‘Kung Flu’: Donald Trump mocks China over Covid; White House denies racism
Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, referred to Covid-19 as ‘Kung Flu’, inviting allegations of racism. Trump said that the official name given to the disease, which has turned into a pandemic, was aimed at hiding its Chinese origin. He said that he could name ‘19-20 versions’ of the novel coronavirus’ name. Following allegations of racism, White House Press Secretary, Kayleigh McEnany said that the President’s aim was to link the virus to China which has been trying to ‘rewrite history’ regarding the outbreak.
