The Delta Plus variant of Coronavirus has raised concerns around the world. The new variant which is a mutation of the Delta variant, majorly responsible of a second wave in India, also has some properties of the Beta variant first identified in South Africa. The Health Ministry has so far maintained that both of India’s primary vaccines Covishield and Covaxin are broadly effective against Delta Plus. However, some experts have flagged concerns that the new sub-lineage of Delta variant might be more transmissible and dangerous.
