The movement of 'Daak Kanwariyas' added to the rush on the roads, as large numbers of devotees travelled towards their destinations to offer holy Ganga water to Lord Shiva. Loud devotional music and chants could also be heard along the routes, with the sound carrying across the busy stretches.
