England coach Gareth Southgate not interested in Boris Johnson’s views on Russia
England coach Gareth Southgate has said that he has little interest in what British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson thinks of the FIFA World Cup in Russia amid a very public diplomatic row between the two countries. Acknowledging that the England team could face a hostile reception during the tournament this summer, Southgate, however, lauded Russia for the infrastructure in place and the atmosphere in stadiums. “I was in Russia last year for the Confederations Cup. I think there were about 15,000 fans from Chile. It was incredible atmosphere in the stadiums. (The) Stadiums were brilliant, the facilities and training grounds were excellent so.... it felt like the other World Cups I've have been to, in terms of the experience within the stadiums and the atmospheres for the games,” he said.
