Taiwan President Lai Ching-te oversaw coastal strike drills on Saturday as part of the island’s annual Han Kuang military exercises, boarding a fast attack missile boat and observing the deployment of drones during simulated operations against a potential Chinese assault.
The drills in southern Taiwan involved military personnel carrying out counter-offensive operations using M109 assault boats and several types of drones, including scout, medium one-way and offensive drones. Lai boarded a Kuang-Hua VI-class missile boat at a naval base in Kaohsiung, where he addressed sailors participating in the exercise.
