‘Burn my effigies, don’t burn public property’: PM Modi to CAA protesters

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commented on the protests against the recent Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019. He issued an appeal to those indulging in violence during these protests. The Prime Minister said that people can erect his effigies and beat them with shoes, and even set them on fire, but public property shouldn't be damaged in protests. He also commented on pelting of stones at policemen. The PM said that policemen work for the public, and not against them and so, should be respected.
