Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at the Centre over police action against Jamia Millia Islamia students. The Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha said that all Opposition parties condemn the actions of the Delhi police force inside the campus of Jamia. He also countered Prime Minister Narendra Modi's charge that the Congress was instigating protests against the recent changes to Citizenship rules. Protests have been witnessed in many parts of India against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 which Parliament passed, and President Kovind assented to, weeks ago.
