Two staff members at the Indian High Commission in Pakistan returned days after being 'abducted' and 'tortured'. Pakistan had accused the duo of rash driving and possessing fake Pakistani currency. India had denied both charges. The Modi government had summoned the Pakistani charge d'affaires to issue a stern demarche, which led to the two Indians being released after around 10 hours of detention. They returned home via the Wagah-Attari border crossing.
