Karnataka by-polls counting: BJP leading, Yediyurappa govt set to survive

BJP looks all set to retain power as early trends show the party leading in 10 out of 15 seats that went to polls in Karnataka. After seven rounds of counting the BJP is leading in 11, Congress in two, Janata Dal (Secular) in one and an independent candidate in one. The BJP needed to win at least 6 seats of the 15 for the Yediyurappa led government to survive in the state. The The Supreme Court last month upheld the disqualification of the 17 even as it allowed them to contest the bypolls.
