Living on the edge in India’s coastlines

When much of Kerala submerged under water last year, the Madhav Gadgil report on the degree of ecological damage underway all along the Western Ghats attained center-stage. This year, the same fate has befallen villages and cities along the fragile western coastline. What can India do to avoid this recurrent, annual date with parched summers followed by devastating floods?
