Sanjeev Chawla, named in S.Africa-India match fixing case, extradited from UK
Alleged bookie Sanjeev Chawla was extradited from the United Kingdom on Thursday. He was brought from London to Delhi, and will be incarcerated at the Tihar jail. Chawla is an accused in a match fixing case dating back to the year 2000. The case pertains to South Africa's tour of India, when Chawla was allegedly a part of a conspiracy with then South Africa captain Hansie Cronje. This is India's first successful extradition under the treaty with United Kingdom which was signed in 1992. The previous extradition of 2002 Gujarat riots accused, Samirbhai Vinubhai Patel, had been voluntary.
