‘They couldn’t even open your bank accounts’: Modi mocks Cong income vow

Days after Congress President Rahul Gandhi promised to implement a minimum income scheme if elected to power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a counter attack. Kicking off his re-election campaign from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, Modi blamed Congress for failing to have bank accounts opened for poor individuals for 70 years. Modi said that after the National Democratic Alliance government ensured 34 crore bank accounts were opened, the Congress was promising to put money in them.
