AGP president plays 'big brother' ahead of assembly polls
Playing 'big brother' in a bid to unite political factions in Assam, Chandra Mohan Patowary, president of the Asom Gano Parishad (AGP) said on Monday that the AGP would not field candidates against leaders of other provincial parties in the upcoming polls. Announcing the second list of candidates in Guwahati, Patowary also asserted the party would do well in the ensuing elections. According to certain media reports, Patowary, eyeing a comeback to revive the AGP's seemingly dwindling political fortunes, is looking for tie-up with other smaller parties to consolidate his position.
