EC to monitor television channels owned by political parties
The Election Commission of India has proposed to form a body to keep a check on television channels owned by political parties indulging in biased reporting, particularly at the time of elections. The Chief Election Commissioner SY Qureshi in New Delhi on Wednesday said the Election Commission is working on guidelines for the electronic media to ensure a balanced and objective reporting. He added that money power during the polls was a grave problem and the commission requires the support of political parties to bring an end to cash distribution.
