Have to bite the bullet on cutting subsidies: PM

With initial reactions to the budget ranging from pragmatic to realistic, the prime minister today said that the target kept by the finance minister to keep susbidies to less than 1.7 per cent of GDP in the next three years is a challenge that needs to be met with effective policies.
