Influx of Bhutanese currency along the Indo-Bhutan border in Assam is posing a serious threat to the local economy,as the residents prefer it for their centuries-old cross-border trade.Due to lack of exchange offices in the border region, the Bhutanese people pay in Bhutanese currency Ngultrum. So the people on the Indian side are left with no option but to accept it.Experts feel that the tendency would not lead to capital formation and expansion of business and thus have put the locals in a disadvantageous position.
