Maoists remain defiant to Mamta's ultimatum

Remaining calm to the seven days deadline set by chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Maoists struck back, threatening local leaders if promises are not kept. Several posters could be seen throughout Salboni village in West Midnapore district, a Maoist stronghold, stating that state government had failed to keep its promises made before the elections and also demanded release of detained Maoists. Santosh Mahato, a villager said that they were ready to face any threat of Maoists. Meanwhile, CPI(M) leader Biman Bose, accused Banerjee of deliberately avoiding the issue of Maoist insurgency.
