Situation remains grim in Kandhamal

Violence continued in communally sensitive Kandhmal district of Orissa as members of Hindu and Christian communities clashed. According to the official, death toll due to communal violence, which erupted following, the killing of senior VHP leader Swami Laxmananda Saraswati and his associates has reached eight. They said that red alert has been sounded. Locals on the other hand fearing further violence have started living in the jungles.
