Iran’s nuclear standoff is intensifying as conflicting claims emerge over a possible parliamentary push to withdraw from the NPT and calls for Tehran to conduct a nuclear test. Iranian lawmakers Esmail Kowsari and Vahid Ahmadi said no NPT withdrawal bill had reached the relevant parliamentary committee, contradicting earlier claims. Meanwhile, Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei accused the IAEA of “political moves,” after the watchdog escalated the issue to the UN Security Council over concerns surrounding Iran’s nuclear activities.
