Delhi Police detained Sukhbir Badal and Harsimrat Kaur among other leaders over farmers’ stir. They were detained for violating Section 144 - orders banning large gatherings - imposed in Delhi. Sukhbir Badal alleged that cops used force to stop the 'black Friday protests’. The SAD protest march from Gurdwara Rakabganj to Parliament was not given permission. Permission was denied keeping in view Covid guidelines of DDMA banning public gatherings. Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory regarding stretches to remain shut due to protests. Several arterial stretches in the city were closed for traffic movement in view of protest leading to traffic snarls. Security has also been beefed up at Tikri and Singhu borders where farmers have been camping for months. DMRC closed and later opened entry-exit gates at two stations in view of the security situation. Farmers have been agitating at different Delhi borders since November last year. The Government held rounds of talks with farmers but failed to bring any resolution to the impasse. Farmers are firm on their demands of complete repeal of the controversial laws.
