Indian Navy’s submarine dare to China; Seeks Modi Govt’s nod to upgrade arsenal

Eye on China threat, India is looking to upgrade its submarine deterrence in synergy with its QUAD partners. Indian Navy is looking for three air independent propulsion (AIP) equipped diesel attack submarines to be built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in collaboration with the French Naval Group. Sources tell HT that the Indian Navy is expected to approach Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) in connection to it. This also comes in the backdrop of an AUKUS deal for nuclear submarines.
