Union Home Minister Amit Shah said India's security policy was 'influenced or overlapping' with foreign policy. The home minister said it was after PM Modi that India got an independent security strategy. Shah was speaking at the 18th Investiture Ceremony of BSF at Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan. The home minister also gave gallantry medals to serving personnel & for those killed in the line of duty. “I used to wonder if there is a security policy in our country or not? Till Narendra Modi became PM, we did not have any independent security policy. It was either influenced by foreign policy or was overlapping with foreign policy. After Narendra Modi became PM, the country got an independent security policy,” he said. “Our idea is to have peaceful relations with all the countries. If someone challenges our sovereignty, the attempt will be replied in the same language,” he added. The country's Border Security Force is about 2.65 lakh personnel strong. BSF guards over 6,300 kms of Indian fronts with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
