Celebs endorsing products or services can be held responsible & face action for appearing in misleading promotions. The new guidelines came into effect on Friday under the Consumer Protection Act. The new guidelines on "Prevention of Misleading Advertisements and Endorsements for Misleading Advertisements, 2022" also seeks to regulate advertisements targeting children. Celebs, sportspersons endorsing misleading ads can be fined up to Rs10 lakh by the consumer protection authority. For repeat offences, the authority can impose a fine of up to ₹50 lakh and a jail term of up to five years. Watch the full video for more.
