The Aam Aadmi Party which forayed into the Madhya Pradesh municipal elections for the first time, made an impressive debut in the state. AAP's Rani Agarwal sprung a surprise by clinching the post of mayor in Singrauli after defeating Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Prakash Vishwakarma by 9,352 votes. The Singrauli Municipal Corporation is the state's second richest municipal corporation after Indore in terms of revenue. AAP is elated after making its debut in Madhya Pradesh.
