Democratic vice-presidential candidate, Kamala Harris remembered her mother, Shyamala Gopalan during the US vice-presidential debate. During the debate at Utah's Salt lake City, Harris said, “It is because of my mother who came to US at 19, gave birth to me at 25. I think I am sitting here that will make her proud. Joe and I have share purpose about lifting people.” Earlier, even while accepting the Democratic Party's nomination for the US vice-president, Harris remembered her Chennai-born mother lamenting the fact that she could not be there to see her daughter's achievement. Harris and US Vice President Mike Pence faced off in a heated 90 minute long debate, ahead of the November 3 election.
