Dozens killed after blasts near Kabul hospital; Taliban points to suicide bomber

At least 19 people died & over 50 injured in two explosions in Afghanistan capital, Kabul. As per media reports, blasts were heard near Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan military hospital. Media reports further suggest that the explosions were followed by the sound of gunfire. A Taliban official said a suicide bomber & a gunmen were behind the Kabul hospital attack. Residents shared photos showing a plume of smoke rising near the Wazir Akbar Khan area. At least two helicopters were seen flying over the area, witnesses told news agency Reuters. The blasts took place at the entrance of the 400-bed military hospital in central Kabul. Interior ministry spokesman Qari Saeed Khosty said security forces had been sent to the area. First explosion occurred reportedly in front of the hospital, second one occurred in an area nearby. A Taliban security official, who wished to remain anonymous, later confirmed the deaths. There has been no official comment from Taliban officials as of now.
