Maldives has suspended three ministers over derogatory remarks made against India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his recent visit to Lakshadweep. The Mohamed Muizzu govt took action against Mariam Shiuna, Malsha and Hassan Zihan before warning of action. The suspension came after Indians started trending ‘Boycott Maldives’ on X, formerly Twitter. Indian celebrities even shared #ExploreIndianIslands, a reference to opting for holidays in Indian islands rather than Maldives.
