‘Don’t want any hot or cold war’: Xi Jinping amidst India-China LAC impasse

Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed the United Nations General Assembly amid escalating tensions with India at Ladakh. The Chinese President said that China will never seek hegemony or pursue expansionist policies. Xi added that China has no intention of fighting a hot or a cold war against any country in the world. He added that China is committed to peaceful, open and common development. Addressing the general debate of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, he said, “We will continue to narrow differences and resolve disputes with others through dialogue and negotiation. The statement comes as China is engaged in a tussle at the LAC in Ladakh with Indian forces. The tensions which started with China's efforts to unilaterally change the status quo had also led to a violent faceoff in Galwan valley leading to casualties on both sides. The Chinese President also spoke on the issue of Covid pandemic amid international criticism over China's alleged attempts to conceal details about the outbreak.
