Salima Mazari, a female district governor in Afghanistan’s Balkh province is recruiting and training her own militia to fight against the Taliban as they capture more cities and towns of the war-torn country. Life has changed little in many areas the insurgents have captured, but in Charkint -- the ruggedly remote district of mountains and valleys that Mazari governs, the stakes are higher. Mazari has recruited men who were farmers and labourers earlier but now buy their own ammunition to keep the Taliban at bay from their land. Watch the full video for more details.
