Hostage release deal
During the 4-day truce, a total of 50 Israeli hostages are expected to be released in exchange for 150 Palestinians lodged in Israeli jails.
Israel has announced that the war will resume after the end of 4-day ceasefire agreement. Meanwhile, world leaders are trying to convince Israel for a permanent ceasefire. Notably, the war has claimed thousands of lives on both sides.
What triggered the war
Israel-Hamas war got triggered after Hamas terrorists attacked Southern Israel on October 7. During the horrific attack, Hamas killed hundreds of innocent civilians, beheaded babies, raped women and abducted nearly 240 hostages. The terrorists had also live streamed some of the killings.
Irish-Israeli girl released by Hamas: Ireland's PM
A nine-year-old Irish-Israeli girl was among the latest group of hostages released by Hamas fighters on Saturday, Ireland's prime minister said in a statement.
"This is a day of enormous joy and relief for Emily Hand and her family," Leo Varadkar said.
"An innocent child who was lost has now been found and returned, and we breathe a massive sigh of relief. Our prayers have been answered."

Israeli authorities release 39 Palestinian prisoners: Palestinian news agency
According to the Palestinian news agency, Israeli authorities have released 39 Palestinian prisoners, including 6 women and 33 children, as part of an exchange deal with Hamas.
Released Palestinian prisoners welcomed amid celebrations in West Bank: Report
Al Jazeera TV provided live coverage on Saturday of a bus, reportedly transporting recently released Palestinian prisoners from an Israeli prison, as it passed through the West Bank town of Beitunia.
The broadcast captured the jubilant atmosphere among Palestinian crowds celebrating the prisoners' return. In a separate development, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that a contingent of newly released Palestinian prisoners had also arrived in Jerusalem.
