When was the last time you saw a bunch of Mexicans dance to hit Punjabi blockbusters?

A video tweeted by Jashandeep Kahlon, a student of City College of San Francisco, shows his Mexican and Indian neighbours dancing to foot-tapping Punjabi hits to celebrate the American Independence Day.

The video has been retweeted more than 46,000 times.

It opens with a couple of people swaying to the pop tunes of Luis Fonsi’s ‘Despacito’ on a California street. The beat picks up in the next shot with Daddy Yankee’s Reggaeton ‘Gasolina’, and a few more people joining in. Cut to the next shot, the third song, ‘Aari Aari’, sees two men attempting signature Punjabi dance moves. The pace quickens as the fourth song ‘Rail Gaddi Aayi’ plays and the street is filled with Mexicans and Indians clapping, swaying, jumping and forming a human chain. Several others are seen cheering them on from their garages.

“By far the best 4th of July I’ve been apart of, S/O to the Mexican neighbors across the street making this lit lmaooo,” tweeted Kahlon.

Twitter was filled with appreciation for the cultural bonding and a longing to be part of the dancing group.
