The meeting comes after the Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine received an emergency use authorisation and the first three million doses were distributed in the country this week. The meeting will be live-streamed to the public, and will end with a vote by two dozen scientists and industry representatives.

The US set grim records on Wednesday, notching more than 3,700 deaths and more than 250,000 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University.
