President Donald Trump on Monday said America would be reinstating the naval blockade on Iran, while adding that other countries would have “fair and open use” of the Strait of Hormuz. This blog has now ended. Track latest updates here. However, the US President said America would be known as the “guardian” of the strait and be reimbursed at the rate of 20 per cent on all cargo shipped, adding that this “process” would begin immediately....Read More
Iran's top joint military command had earlier said Tehran would not allow Washington to intervene in the management of the waterway.
Meanwhile, at least one person was killed and seven others were injured in a US strike on a military base in Nain city in Iran's central Isfahan province, according to Iranian media. The deputy governor of Isfahan said the casualties occurred "following an attack by the terrorist American army", with the injured receiving treatment as per Al Jazeera.
That makes the death toll of the latest US strikes in Iran to at least two people, according to Iranian media.
Iran said it would not implement its commitments under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States unless Washington fulfilled its own obligations under the agreement, Reuters reported citing the Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson.
Fresh US-Iran strikes
Iran on Monday shot down a US-manufactured ‘Lucas’ suicide drone over Bandar Abbas. The drone was “accurately hit and shot down”, the country's Tasnim news agency reported.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched retaliatory strikes on US military bases in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, according to Iranian state media. They claimed to launch a fifth wave of retaliatory attacks, targeting US-linked military facilities in Bahrain and radar installations in Oman with missiles and drones.
The US military, earlier, said it struck dozens of targets at multiple locations across Iran. The targets included Iranian military air defence systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said. The operation involved US fighter aircraft, naval vessels, one-way attack aerial drones and, for the first time, one-way attack sea drones.
At least two dead, 11 injured in US attacks in Iran
At least two people were killed, and 11 injured in US strikes on Iran since Sunday. One person was killed, and seven others were injured in a US attack near Nain county in Iran's Isfahan province, Mehr news agency reported. On Sunday, one person was killed and four others were injured after a US projectile struck an agricultural water pumping station in Mahshahr in Iran's Khuzestan province early, provincial authorities said.
According to Iran's state news agency IRNA, the person killed was a security guard at the facility. Khuzestan Deputy Governor for Security and Law Enforcement Valiollah Hayati said emergency and medical teams were treating the injured.
Air raid sirens were activated across Bahrain, the country's interior ministry said. The alerts sounded at dawn Monday in Bahrain, home to the US Navy's 5th Fleet. There was no immediate word on damage, AFP reported.
Fresh strikes
The United States launched a fresh missiles on southern Iran on Sunday. Iranian state media reported explosions in the southern port cities of Bandar Abbas, Sirik and Jask, as well as on Qeshm Island, hours after Washington said it carried out another round of attacks targeting Iranian military assets.
The latest strikes follow a day of intense military exchanges. The US military said it struck at least 140 targets across Iran, while Tehran responded with attacks targeting US military bases and facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Jordan.
Kuwait said Iranian strikes hit border posts and an oil rig, while Qatar reported injuries caused by intercepted projectiles. Oman, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates also said they detected incoming fire during the weekend.
Hormuz remains flashpoint
The Strait of Hormuz is at the centre of all this. Washington and Tehran have issued conflicting claims over the status of one of the world's busiest oil shipping lanes.
US President Donald Trump has insisted that the waterway remains "open". Iran, though, maintains that maritime traffic will not be permitted until "stability and calm are restored", according to the country's Persian Gulf Strait Authority.
US-Iran war LIVE: Iran says it has acted in good faith, asks US to do the same
US-Iran war LIVE: Iran called on the United States to fulfil its obligations under the interim memorandum of understanding, warning that Tehran would no longer implement the agreement if Washington failed to honour its commitments.
"Iran has entered every negotiation with meticulousness and seriousness keeping in mind the interests and concerns of the Iranian nation," foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei told reporters in Tehran.
"Once an understanding has been reached it has acted in good faith and seriousness in fulfilling its commitments," he said. "The Islamic Republic of Iran has never been the first to violate its commitments."
Baghaei said Iran would stop implementing the memorandum of understanding if the United States did not uphold its side of the agreement to end the war.
"Each time the other party has failed to meet its obligations, we did not uphold ours… We will continue to act in this manner," he said.

US-Iran war LIVE: France says no Iran sanctions relief without renouncing nuclear programme
US-Iran war LIVE: France has said there will be no sanctions relief for Iran unless Tehran clearly renounces its nuclear programme.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot told French media that there would be "no lifting of sanctions" on Iran as long as it had not "renounced its nuclear programme".
Barrot had said last month that France wanted to play a role in negotiations over Iran's nuclear programme and would not support lifting United Nations sanctions unless it was satisfied with the terms of a final peace agreement between the US and Iran.
France is one of the five permanent, veto-wielding members of the United Nations Security Council.
US-Iran war LIVE: Iran says US pressure on Oman hampered Hormuz mechanism talks
US-Iran war LIVE: Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson said Tehran has been trying to establish a joint mechanism with Oman to manage the Strait of Hormuz, but claimed the efforts were hindered by US pressure on Muscat. The remarks come amid escalating tensions over the strategic waterway, with Washington and Tehran at odds over navigation and security in the strait. (Reuters)

US-Iran war LIVE: Only 6 ships crossed Strait of Hormuz on Sunday - a 5-week low
US-Iran war LIVE: Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has dropped to its lowest level in five weeks as renewed military exchanges between the US and Iran heighten risks along the key global energy route.
According to Kpler shipping data, only six vessels transited the strait on Sunday, including the Very Large Crude Carrier Humanity, carrying about two million barrels of Iranian oil, and the Capetan Andreas, transporting around 500,000 barrels of Kuwaiti petroleum products. Three empty tankers also entered the Gulf to load oil.
US-Iran war LIVE: How the war flared up again
US-Iran war LIVE: The latest escalation between the US and Iran has placed last month's ceasefire and memorandum of understanding under severe strain.
The renewed war began on July 6, when Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reportedly attacked three commercial vessels, including a Qatari LNG tanker, off the coast of Oman. The US responded the next day with strikes on Iranian military targets. Tehran launched missile and drone attacks on US-linked military bases across the Gulf.
Tensions deepened on Wednesday after US President Donald Trump declared the ceasefire was effectively over.
On Saturday, the IRGC announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz after attacking a container ship it said was using an "unapproved route".
This triggered another round of US strikes on Iranian targets, particularly along the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran retaliated by targeting US-linked facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan and Qatar, and claimed further attacks on vessels in the strategic waterway.
US-Iran war LIVE: Qatar's Father Emir remembered for landmark Gaza visit that challenged Israeli blockade
US-Iran war LIVE: Following the death of Qatar's Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, he is being remembered for his longstanding support for the Palestinian cause, particularly his landmark 2012 visit to the Gaza Strip.
Six years after Israel imposed a blockade on Gaza, Sheikh Hamad became the first Arab and Muslim leader to visit the territory, accompanied by his wife, Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, and a senior delegation.
The visit was widely seen as defying Gaza's political isolation and was welcomed by large crowds. Hamas diaspora chief Khaled Meshaal described the visit as a symbolic breaking of the blockade, saying Sheikh Hamad stood with Gaza "in its darkest circumstances" and remembered him as "intelligent, brave and a man of principles."

US-Iran war LIVE: Iran claims fifth wave of strikes on Bahrain, Oman
US-Iran war LIVE: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it launched the fifth phase of its retaliatory operation, targeting “installations and infrastructure of the aggressive US army” in AlJuffair, Bahrain, and the “FPS long-range aerial radar and the vessel detection radar in Oman” with missiles and drones, Al Jazeera reported.
The IRGC claimed the radar systems in Oman were destroyed and said “the only way to open the Strait of Hormuz to vessel traffic is to end the interventions of the aggressive US military in this strait and respect the sovereignty of countries over their own coastal waters”. It warned that “continuing these interventions will lead to greater incidents in the world’s oil and gas sector.”
The claims have not been independently verified.
US-Iran war LIVE: What Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain did after Iran fired retaliatory strikes
US-Iran war LIVE: Kuwait said its air defence systems engaged “hostile aerial targets” inside its airspace after Iran launched retaliatory strikes targeting US-linked military facilities in the region. The Kuwaiti military said any explosions heard were caused by air defence interceptions and urged residents to follow safety instructions. Jordan also said it intercepted four missiles fired from Iranian territory, while Bahrain activated warning sirens.
US-Iran war LIVE: ‘Fourth phase’ of Iran’s retaliation in Kuwait
US-Iran war LIVE: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched a fourth phase of retaliatory attacks on Kuwait, targeting a US surface-to-surface missile base.
The IRGC claimed it destroyed two HIMARS missile launchers and missile storage facilities, Al Jazeera reported.
US-Iran war LIVE: Key updates of the latest batch of US-Iran strikes
US-Iran war LIVE: The US military says it has completed a fresh wave of strikes on Iran, hitting “dozens of targets” including air defence systems, coastal radar installations, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats.
Iranian state media reported explosions in Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, Sirik, Jask and multiple locations in Khuzestan province following the US strikes.
At least one person was killed and four others injured after a US projectile struck an agricultural water pumping station in Mahshahr, Iranian authorities said.
Iran said it launched retaliatory missile and drone attacks targeting US-linked military facilities in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait.
Jordan said it intercepted four missiles launched from Iranian territory, while Kuwait said its air defence systems engaged hostile aerial targets.
Oil markets reacted sharply to the escalation, with Brent crude rising above $79 a barrel amid concerns over shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
US-Iran war LIVE: Indian markets fall amid renewed bombardment
US-Iran war LIVE: Indian equity markets traded lower on Monday as renewed fighting between the US and Iran and Tehran's claim that it had again closed the Strait of Hormuz pushed crude oil prices higher.
The Nifty 50 fell 0.71% to 24,034.10, while the BSE Sensex dropped 0.78% to 76,965.69 in morning trade. All 16 sectoral indices were in the red, with financial, auto and metal stocks losing about 1% each. Brent crude climbed about 4% to $79 a barrel, raising concerns over inflation and interest rates.
Market experts said that while the war has become a recurring risk, the absence of panic in oil markets and Brent remaining below $90 could limit the impact on equities. L&T Finance gained after reporting strong quarterly results, while Just Dial surged on robust earnings and leadership changes.
US-Iran war LIVE: No injuries, no major damage at Jordan air base, US says
US-Iran war LIVE: A US official has rejected Iranian claims that American military facilities in Jordan suffered significant damage, saying there were no injuries to US personnel and no reports of major damage.
The official told CBS News that the overwhelming majority of Iranian missiles and drones were intercepted or shot down. The statement came after Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it had destroyed the command-and-control centre and MQ-9 drone hangars at Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan.

US-Iran war LIVE: Iran says Strait of Hormuz is closed, contradicting US
US-Iran war LIVE: Iran has contradicted the US military's assertion that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, saying transit through the strategic waterway is “currently not possible.”
The statement was issued by the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA), a government body set up by Tehran in May to regulate vessel movements through the strait. The agency said shipping requests would be reviewed and permits issued only after "stability and calm are restored."
US-Iran war LIVE: Ex-CENTCOM chief says US has the capability to control Hormuz

US-Iran war LIVE: Retired General Frank McKenzie, the former commander of US Central Command, said the US military had the capability to take control of the Strait of Hormuz if Trump ordered such an operation.
Speaking on CBS' Face the Nation, McKenzie said this would involve deploying US naval vessels into the strategic waterway. He added that while the Navy preferred to avoid such missions, it was well equipped to carry them out.
He also said that Iran's leadership responded primarily to military pressure and said sustained force may be necessary to extract concessions from Tehran.
US-Iran war LIVE: Iran says US attacks have derailed months of diplomatic efforts
US-Iran war LIVE: Iran has condemned the latest wave of US strikes, saying the attacks have "rendered futile" months of diplomatic efforts and undermined recent negotiations. In a statement, Iran's Foreign Ministry also accused Washington of reigniting insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz and disrupting international commercial shipping by interfering in what it described as Iran's efforts to implement arrangements in the strategic waterway. (AFP)

US-Iran war LIVE: Why fuel prices remain high even as crude oil falls
US-Iran war LIVE: Although crude oil prices have fallen below $75 a barrel, refined fuel prices such as gasoline, diesel and jet fuel remain elevated due to a global shortage of refining capacity rather than oil company price gouging, according to a Bloomberg Opinion column.
The author argues that repeated Ukrainian drone strikes have knocked out about one-third of Russia's diesel production capacity and damaged refineries accounting for roughly 70% of the country's processing capacity, forcing Moscow to curb fuel exports while shipping more crude abroad.
As a result, crude prices have eased while refined fuel prices have remained high. The benchmark 3-2-1 crack spread, a key measure of refining margins, has surged to around $60 per barrel, far above its historical average of about $10.50.
The tight market has been compounded by reduced refining activity in the Gulf, US releases from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve that boosted crude supply but not refined fuels, and lower refinery runs and fuel exports from China.
The author estimates that about 10% of global refining capacity is currently offline.
US-Iran war LIVE: Kuwait says air defences intercept hostile aerial targets
US-Iran war LIVE: Kuwait's General Staff said its air defence systems were engaging "hostile aerial targets" within the country's airspace. The military said explosions heard across the country were caused by air defence interceptions. (Al Jazeera)
US-Iran war LIVE: Who controls the Strait of Hormuz? US and Iran trade claims
US-Iran war LIVE: The Strait of Hormuz has become the central flashpoint in the latest phase of the US war on Iran. Both sides have claimed authority over the strategic waterway.
CENTCOM said it struck dozens of Iranian military targets, including air defence systems, radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats. They added that "Iran does not control" the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards rejected the US claim and declared the strait was Iranian territory.
US-Iran war LIVE: IRGC claims it halted two 'violating' vessels in Strait of Hormuz
US-Iran war LIVE: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed its navy carried out an operation overnight to stop two vessels it said were "endangering shipping" in the Strait of Hormuz. According to a Reuters report citing the IRGC, the forces allegedly disabled the ships' systems during the operation.
