How safe is your luggage when you leave it at the check-in counter and proceed to board the plane?

You might not give it a second thought but after watching this footage making the rounds of the internet, you may start to worry about the safety of your luggage.

A baggage handler was caught on camera rummaging through passenger’s check-in luggage on a Jetstar flight bound for Singapore. The footage of the man stealing from the suitcase was recorded on the CCTV cameras placed inside the luggage compartment of the aeroplane.

The man was arrested at Phuket International Airport, Thailand, according to a report in Mirror. It said the 27-year-old man was employed by BAGS, a third party baggage handling company hired by the Australian low-cost airlines.

“Jetstar is aware of a video circulating online and we are taking the matter very seriously,” a Jetstar spokesperson reportedly told news.com.au, adding that the company has launched an investigation into the matter.

The spokesperson added that the luggage handling company is not used in Australia but it does provide baggage services for around 90 airlines in Thailand.
