Explosion in Chinese coal mine kills 18

BEIJING: A gas explosion on Tuesday morning at a coal mine in the Chinese city of Shizuishan killed 18 miners and left two others missing. Authorities blamed illegal mining for the explosion. Local officials on Wednesday said that representatives of the company that owned the mine, the Linli Coal Mining Co. Ltd., were in police custody.
