Berlusconi absent as sex trial opens

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was not in attendance today as his trial on charges of buying sex with an underage prostitute and abuse of power opened in Milan.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was not in attendance on Wednesday as his trial on charges of buying sex with an underage prostitute and abuse of power opened in Milan.

The women in question, Karima El Mahroug, better known as "Ruby the Heart Stealer" was also not at the hearing, which was expected to announce that the official start of the trial will be delayed.
