A bomb struck a bus carrying Afghan soldiers to work in the capital Kabul early on Thursday, an officer said, as a witness reported seeing several casualties.

"It was a remote-controlled bomb placed in a cart," said the officer, Colonel Ali Reza, at the site of the blast in the north of the city.
