Opposition leaders have alleged Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin for supporting widespread corruption.

The Liberals have been in power for 12 years but it looks like their reign is finally coming to an end. The minority government is likely to be ousted by the Conservatives amid anger over a major kickback scandal and other suggestions of wrongdoing.

Martin energetically defended himself against the attacks but it was obvious that he would have to do a lot more to save his party this election.

A Strategic Counsel poll done by The Globe and Mail newspaper showed the Conservatives with the support of 37 per cent of voters, with the Liberals trailing at 29 per cent. And if these figures are to be believed, voter support for the Conservatives could shoot up in a few days.

This lead is one of the largest the Opposition have enjoyed and it showed that they would come to power if elections were to be held now.
