"China will always honour the political change which has come about through the massive participation of the Nepalese people," visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said while attending a dinner reception hosted by his Nepalese counterpart Upendra Yadav on Tuesday.

Jiechi said China is committed to extend possible assistance to Nepal for protecting its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

"China is also ready to extend its full cooperation for the political stability and economic development of Nepal," he said.

"Nepal had openly supported China on the Tibetan and Tiwan issues," he said adding, "we respect each other's interest and sensitivities. Nepal has always been upholding the principle of One China Policy."

The Foreign Minister also lauded the help Nepal government had extended in making the Beijing Olympics a success and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Prachanda for his participation during the closing ceremony of the Games.

The visiting Chinese Minister said that China would take special initiative for providing cooperation to Nepal by setting up a long term strategy, in infrastructure development, health, education and science and technology sectors.
