Facebook has for past few years broadened the periphera of social networking enabling the users to add people as friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves, join networks organized by workplace, school, or college.

To mark the occasion, the site has started collecting "Facebook Stories" from users about how the site affected their lives, as reported by the All Things Digital blog of the Wall Street Journal.

However, Facebook Inc. has asked its members to limit the stories to maximum of 420 characters, same as a status update, and the favorites would be featured on a website within Facebook.
