FBI team to visit Pak next month
Pakistan on Thursday said a team of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) led by the its Director Robert Mueller is scheduled to visit the country on March 4 to help investigate the Mumbai attacks.
Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Basit said the FBI team led by Mueller is scheduled to visit Pakistan on March 4. The team is expected to follow up on the probe conducted by Pakistani authorities into the Mumbai attacks.
“A FBI team had also visited India and the agency helped in India’s ongoing investigation into the attacks. We hope the FBI will assist us by providing any further information and intelligence they may have,” he said.
Pakistani authorities have detained six suspects in connection with the Mumbai attacks and four of them -- Lashker-e-Taiba operatives Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, Zarar Shah, Abu al Qama and Hamad Amin Sadiq -- have been remanded to the custody of the FIA till March 3 by an anti-terrorism judge.
