Five killed in anti-US Afghan protests: officials

A total of five demonstrators were shot dead on Wednesday in anti-US protests in Afghanistan over the burning of the Koran at a US military base, officials said.

A total of five demonstrators were shot dead on Wednesday in anti-US protests in Afghanistan over the burning of the Koran at a US military base, officials said.

Three were killed in Shinwar district of Parwan province north of Kabul, provincial administration spokeswoman Roshna Khalid told AFP. Two other people were killed in Kabul and the eastern city of Jalalabad, health officials said.
