Governor among 22 killed in Afghan suicide attack

At least 22 people, including a governor, were killed and 60 injured on Saturday in Afghanistan following a suicide bombing attack during a wedding ceremony, RIA Novosti reported.

At least 22 people, including a governor, were killed and 60 injured on Saturday in Afghanistan following a suicide bombing attack during a wedding ceremony, RIA Novosti reported.

According to Pazhwok news agency, Samangan province's governor Akhmad Khan Samangani died at his daughter's wedding when a suicide bomber blew himself up on the occasion.

The militant, wearing a suicide vest, came into the banquet hall of the hotel Kasr-e Almas in Ayabak area around 7.30 a.m. and set off the bomb during the ceremony, killing Governor Samangani.

The injured included the police chief for country's western region, Said Akhmad Samakh, who was seriously injured, according to the Afghanistan interior ministry.
