The attackers were armed with Kalashnikovs, authorities said, adding that one policeman was injured in the incident and admitted to hospital.

Police later launched a search for the gunmen.

Separately, up to four armed men knocked a security personnel unconscious and snatched his official car.

The car belonged to a security organisation.

The attackers had tied up the driver, who alerted authorities about the incident when he gained consciousness in hospital three hours later.
