Indian doctor battles with Saudi employer

An Indian doctor, who has been working in Saudi Arabia since 1986, has been fighting a legal battle for the last three years to recover his dues from his employer before leaving the country.

Ganesh Pande, a specialist in internal medicine, claims that the problem began when he returned from his leave in 2002 to discover that his old employer had shut his clinic and sold it off to a person who refused to settle his dues, saying he was not responsible for entitlements from the former employer.

All attempts to settle the case have failed and Pande has no passport and his entitlements from years of working in the Kingdom have not been paid, Arab News quoted him as saying.

The expatriate doctor's efforts to recover his dues have proved to be of no avail and turned into a "bureaucratic nightmare," it said.

He is left with a file full of letters from the labour office, the ministry, appeals to the minister, letters from the Indian ambassador to the governor, statements from courts, statements from the polyclinic he once worked in, and statements from his lawyer, it added.
