Iraq war could be tougher, longer than thought: Bush

Shortly after attack on Iraq, Bush told American people that Iraq war could be longer than predicted.

Shortly after US attack on Iraq, US President George W Bush on Wednesday said war in Iraq could be longer and more difficult than some predict.

He also claimed that Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein will use women, children and men as human shields to protect his troops.

"At this hour, American and coalition forces are at the early stages of military operations to disarm Iraq, to free its people and to defend the world from great danger," he said in his address to the American people.

"On my orders, coalition forces have begun striking at selected targets," the President added.
